History

The Judgeship of Jehanabad has been carved out from the Sessions Division of Gaya on 30.11.1992. Prior to it, likewise Administrative set up, there was Sub Divisional Courts at Jehanabad where District headquarters has been established in the year 1986.which is 48 K.M away from Patna & 50 K.M away from Gaya District. The Sessions Division at Jehanabad has been inaugurated by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Bimal Chandra Basak, the then Hon’ble Chief Justice of the Hon’ble High Court, Patna, under Chairmanship of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Satya Brat Sinha on 30.11.1992. Since then the Jehanabad Judgeship has seen 18 Judges. The first District & Sessions Judge, Jehanabad was Sri Kunjal Sai Miro Toppo, who remained in office from 30.11.1992 to 30.09.1995. At present Sri Brajesh Kumar District Judge is in office of the District & Sessions Judge, Jehanabad since 12.03.2024.
